Being a couple with the one you have dreamt of having all your life can be magical. But first, you must carry sound relationship advice as you proceed so that you know how to make your relationship or marriage stand the test of time.
And there are several tips on relationships that make them work and help you navigate challenging times. I hope to share some with you in this post.
Romantic relationships are beautiful. That is why many people want to get married or start a relationship. However, beyond the cute photos with your significant other, there are days when the both of you will not be on the same page.
And there are other days when you both will be besties. Therefore, you must have some relationship tips at the tip of your fingers that will help when time challenges your relationship.
I know you may not like to hear that, but I couldn’t help but tell you the truth about that side of romantic relationships. Unfortunately, too many people do not talk about the ugly sides of it, but this is not in any way to scare you.
Instead, this is to notify you that you should be ready to apply some principles if you want your relationship to work fine. Moreover, I started by saying that romantic relationships are beautiful, and I would like you to experience that too. So, join me as I share with you some good relationship advice.

1. Jealousy Is Unnecessary
Jealousy is a trait that is totally unnecessary when it comes to romantic relationships. Unfortunately, countless times it has destroyed many relationships that began smoothly. I agree that everyone can be jealous, especially if their spouse is cute and gets easily noticed by the opposite gender or they attract them by their charm.
But it would help if you remembered that they chose you despite the noise. I call those distractions noise because they are mostly loud, so they can get your attention. But like a flint, they have set their face so they will only have eyes for you.
It would be best if you found faith and believed them when they say it is you they want and have chosen to spend the rest of their lives with. So, my first relationship advice is not to allow jealousy to overwhelm you and take over the wheel. However, if you allow that to happen, that is only a recipe for disaster.
2. Don’t Ever Compare
When has this ever helped any relationship get better? Unfortunately, I am still yet to see one. If it only adds fuel to the fire, why do that? For those that had gone before you and failed, this may be one of the reasons for failure.
I necessarily do not believe that experience is the best teacher. For instance, if I see you get burnt by a fire because you took yourself close to the fire, I do not have to take that route to know that fire burns.
In essence, I am only trying to say that for those couples who comparison has damaged or ruined their relationship should be enough lessons for you. And you do not have to repeat the same mistake to know it will damage your relationship.
I understand that the urge to compare our spouses with perhaps our ex or the other couple next door may come, but it is your job to control what comes out of your mouth when speaking to your spouse. Also, it is possible to control your thoughts because our words are a product of our thoughts.
Suppose you want your partner to change a particular habit or become better at something you think will benefit your relationship.
There are many ways to tell them that do not involve comparing them to your ex or the couple next door. Instead, think about it this way: would you be happy if they did that to you? This is one relationship advice you should not forget in a hurry.
3. Communication Is Key

One of the best pieces of relationship advice you will ever hear is that communication is key. And a key signifies access to that particular door that is locked. And countless times, many of us have listened to this, but fewer have used it.
So this begs the question, why? If we believe this to be true, it is because it has been proven countless times, so again, I ask why you neglect such an important principle. Generally, life itself is governed by principles, and so are romantic relationships.
For instance, if we want to get into the house when a door is locked. First, we must ensure that we have the keys to access the door and be sure it is the correct key for that door.
Then, we open it and step in. But, unfortunately, when faced with a challenge and the key to unlocking that door is good communication, many forget that proper communication makes things easier.
In other words, it is the key that opens many doors. Because you will feel heard and understood, everyone will air their opinions on the subject and come to a good resolution.
Also, it is wise to note that good communication involves active listening to comprehend what is being said.
4. Accept Each Other’s Shortcomings
You shouldn’t get into a romantic relationship if you are not ready to forgive your spouse. There are no perfect relationships, and neither are there perfect partners.
However, successful relationships are built by two imperfect people willing to forgive each other’s shortcomings and move ahead without keeping scores.
And I am sure that you have heard that. However, the challenge is that we want what does not exist. And that has caused untold damage to countless homes.
I am not saying that you do not have the right to be angry with your spouse if they hurt you because some of their wrongdoings will be painful. But you should also remember that love is also about forgiveness.
And I am sure that sometimes you also fall short, and they forgive you. So, try not to let the sun go down without you still haven’t forgiven them in your heart. Will it be as easy as ABC? Of course not, but a thousand-mile journey begins with a step.
We all want our relationships to last long, and if we are willing to forgive each other and choose our battles, eventually, we will be fine. This an excellent relationship advice you must hold on to as you journey.
5. Express Love Daily

Expressing love daily in your relationship with your partner is a possibility. And I have seen it many times in many successful relationships. Many will tell you several pieces of relationship advice as you embark on your journey.
However, many may be good and valuable, while others may not. And those unhealthy ones come from their experience, which may not be pleasant. And as a result of that, you may hear things like it is impossible to express love to your partner daily and other unhealthy advice.
Unfortunately, many will take such junk into their relationship, and because we are a product of the information or knowledge we have, we will replicate nothing but failure.
I am here to tell you that you can express love to your partner daily, and I am not talking about sensual relations alone. When we speak our partner’s love language, we express love to them. Y
ou may not necessarily say “I love you” every day, but through your thoughtful actions by speaking their love language, you are expressing love to them, and they will feel loved.
And what happens when a partner showers their significant other with love? They blossom and flourish and do their best to make things work.
There is nothing as interesting as couples constantly trying to speak each other’s love language to ensure their partner’s love tank is not empty. And you can be that couple with your partner when you do this.
6. Practice Selflessness At Every Opportunity
Practising selflessness is one of the tips for lovers I would like you to carry into your new relationship. Marriage is a union where we are called or supposed to serve each other in love. And that can also mean being more concerned with your partner’s needs than yours.
Suppose this is the case in many relationships. Then, we will not experience the high rate of divorce that we are currently seeing globally. Instead, it will be a case of who does better at practising selflessness in the relationship.
That can be done in different ways, and when done, your partner will feel valued and loved. However, there shouldn’t be any specific time when this should be done.
We all know that practice makes one perfect, so the more you practice selflessness in your relationship, the better you become at it, and that will also make you a better person. This is one of the best relationship advice you will ever get.
7. Never Stop Learning About Healthy Relationships

It will be wise to also surround yourself with people whose relationships are working. But, again, the reason isn’t far-fetched. What we hear and see has a way of shapen our mentality.
And naturally, when surrounded by successful people who have all succeeded in their relationships, you learn a lot and apply the principles to yours. That way, you will get excellent results, too, in your relationship.
- Never stop learning about healthy relationships from those with a proven track record.
The exact impact or result will happen when surrounded by people who have failed in their relationships because they will all have a story of their failed relationships of how all men are scum and how women are not loyal.
And it may not be too far before your mind is altered and your perception and approach change toward your partner.
In essence, never stop learning about healthy relationships from those with a proven track record. Always feel free to ask questions where you need relationship advice because they might have passed through that challenge at some point.
And you will need to hear how they did it and became victorious so that you, too, can be victorious. And the only way to know is to ask. So never embrace assumptions in this context.
Finally, I extensively discussed this in the article Healthy Relationship Tips, so to know more, kindly read it.
8. Handle Relationship Challenges As A Team
Teamwork makes the dream work, and I am sure you have heard that saying. I find that true because any house divided against itself cannot stand. Neither can any two be together if they don’t work in agreement.
Even though we have made such statements, we often do the opposite when faced with the slightest challenges. Does it mean that we do not believe our own words, or are we just saying them for fun to the hearing of others so they can clap for us?
- Whatever fights your unity has destroyed your relationship.
It is vital always to handle any challenge together because it shows that both of you are united and committed to seeing that you overcome and come out victorious and even stronger than before. But, unfortunately, whatever fights your unity has destroyed your relationship.
So always remember this love advice as you journey together. Of course, every relationship has trying times, and you must remember that.
But if there are couples who did it, why should yours be any different? So one of my best pieces of relationship advice for couples, regardless of how long they might have been together, is to always remain united in handling relationship challenges.
9. Put Time And Energy Into Romance

You should never feel that because you have succeeded in getting your partner, you should stop wooing them. But unfortunately, this is common for most couples because it is easy to slip into that zone of complacency and feel there is no need to put time and energy into romance.
This is also one of the primary reasons many relationships lose their spark after some time. I know it is not easy, but successful relationships take work.
And this is one of them. But if you have lost your spark in your relationship, you can read my article titled How To Get The Spark Back In A Broken Relationship to help you.
So, deliberate effort or planning must go into creating memorable moments that your spouse will cherish and hold on to. And if you are thinking of what to do to inject some romance into your relationship with your spouse, my article, Date Ideas, will be of great help to you.
10. Embrace Vulnerability As A Key To True Intimacy
What is that excellent advice about love that you know? I know a few. So if I may, what is being in love without being vulnerable? I know that untold beautiful moments emerge out of our ability to be genuinely vulnerable with our spouse because it brings out the real us.
And that is the part of us that our spouse would like to see. Also, you will agree with me that it is such moments that make relationships their most meaningful and sacred. However, these moments leave you breathless.
Also, it is worth noting that vulnerability doesn’t come quickly nor happens overnight. But if given a chance to grow, it can be the most loving moments of your life with your partner.
This is one of the best relationship advice you will ever receive. So why not give it a chance? So many hold back because of ugly past experiences, and I can understand. But this is a new one, and it can be different. There are many tips for relationships out there, and I would love to go, but I will save them for another article.
Regardless of whatever scary information you might have gotten from perhaps sincere or well-meaning folks, the fact is that only you can choose which life to live. And my sincere hope is that your experience will be one of the best love stories ever told.
